Asahi Simbun's excuse article for their misleading issues

Asahi Simbun shows the English excuse article of their misleading issues for so-called "Comfort Women" at last.   The original Japanese excuse article was showed on August 5th and 6th but the corresponding  English excuse article didn't come up at the same time.  Why did they spend more than two weeks to prepare the English version though they are very famous and one of largest Japanese media?  Don't they have English skills in the company?  I have to say "No" because they have long been managing their big English site to the world.

I have to think they didn't have a plan to prepare English article at first because they just wanted to close the severe criticisms against the company in Japan.  The most important thing is their "wrong" and something intentional articles had been the fact worldwide and Japan and Japanese are receiving unfounded criticisms.  The most significant matter is Asahi Simbun just shows the article and withdraws the past articles, but they don't apologize they showed wrong and misleading articles and left those for thirty-two years while many people have long pointed its incorrectness and inconsistency.

Many Japanese think Asahi Simbun is no longer media.  Not only the so-called "Comfort Women" issues but also other articles such as "Yoshida Testimony", they provide intentionally modified and directed articles according to their company policy.  Because even media is a company, it is not a problem that they have something company policy and work for it.  But, media is not a ordinary company.  They have the responsibility to provide the fact to readers.  It is difficult to define what is "fact".  As there is no "perfect" matter in the life, the provided information via media must have some "noise" and "bias".  As long as the level of those noise and bias is enough lower than the level that we can ignore or correct by ourselves, I think that is "fact" matter.  Then readers think and consider own understanding and opinion.  This is the healthy and fair society where individual has the right of freedom.

Asahi Simbun just veiled their original articles.  However zillions of articles and information have been distributed worldwide based on their mistakes.  Asahi Simbun's excuse article this time is a milestone toward wiping out unfounded criticisms but it's still very small one.  If Asahi Simbun wants to be a media from now on, I think they will have to apologize their mistakes and their policy that they left the matter for many years.  Then they will have to release what is fact and what is issue for the subject so that the remaining wrong and misunderstanding articles and information shall be corrected.  But I think they will never do it because it is the denial of their "raison d'être" completely.  I have to say Asahi Simbun is Asahi Simbun and never media.
